Phoenix Vegetarian Restaurant – Pomegranate Cafe

September 29th, 2011

We are big fans of Pomegranate Cafe. They are located right next to Trader Joe’s in Ahwatukee, Arizona. They are also friends of ours.

Pomegranate was started by a mother and daughter team who both have a history of culinary training. They make a great team and they do a fantastic job.

With a focus on sourcing from local companies, they do a great job of supporting local farms. Most of their produce comes from farms that are located right in Arizona. The only exceptions are during the summer when it is way too hot for most of the farms near Phoenix to grow leafy greens. Then farms that are a little further away need to be sourced from.

When we were there I had their breakfast burrito. I’m a huge fan of the entire concept of the breakfast burrito and this one did not disappoint. I was a bit concerned that it may not be filling enough, but boy was I wrong.

It comes with eggs, veggies, beans, and a bit of cheese. And boy was it filling, and delicious.

The size of the burrito was great. It wasn’t too much but it was definitely substantial. It gave me that really comforting feeling that I love when I’m hungry, which I was. It eased its way into my belly, and just made itself at home. I could feel the nutrients.

That is a great feeling!

My girlfriend had their veggie burger. And again, this food was substantial. It had a very well controlled density too it without being over whelming or bloating. I felt like it was really nutrient dense and powerful.

Neither of us are big soy eaters. We have a number of reasons for that. But I’m personally not strict to the point that I won’t have any at all. My burrito had what I believe was a tempeh bacon. Which actually made for some funny discussion with Casey.

I actually thought they put bacon into the burrito which had me completely confused. But they didn’t. It was the smoked tempeh bacon. I’m not a mock meat kind of guy but this definitely had me fooled. In a good way!

And of course one of our favorite parts of the whole experience was the elixirs. An herbal elixir is a mixture of freeze dried herbs that are combined to provide an intense nutritive effect. Sometimes the effect can be physically felt. They are usually mixed into a fruit juice. In this case, Pomegranate juice.

We are honored and proud that Pomegranate serves Chakra 4 elixirs. And they do it with such style and class. Each elixir comes with a strawberry and a generous piece of Pomegranate’s homemade lavender chocolate.

The mixture of the strawberry with the chocolate in between sips of the bitter, but tasty, elixir is a really fun trip to take your taste buds on. And the perfect end to a fabulous meal.

The dining industry is tough but if you really want to own a restaurant, it can prove to be a satisfying business and a profitable one too. You can start a restaurant from scratch or buy a restaurant for sale. Either way, it will be very important to familiarize yourself with the restaurant industry before pouring thousands of dollars into a new business venture.

Think if you want to own a restaurant that caters to the high end market or if you want to open a burger joint or pizzeria. Pizzeria’s and burger joints must be affordable. You profit may be smaller per order but you can make up for it by having a large market base. Everyone eats pizza and burgers. This is not a bad choice because of the popularity of the food.

If you decide on a pizzeria you will have to produce good tasting pizza at an affordable price. Profit margin may be slim but you can make up for it by increasing the volume of customers. Well, if you have noticed, most pizzerias are always full during meal times and probably at least half full during off-peak hours. Turnover is quick but it is also necessary to provide a lot of tables to get that volume you need to make a bug profit. » Read more: Own A Restaurant, Diner, Cafe or Pizzeria
